Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus):
Monarchs are a migratory species of butterfly, traveling hundreds of miles each year to overwinter in Mexico. Thousands of butterflies gather together for warmth in order to survive the cool temperatures. There are so many butterflies that they cover everything, weighing down tree branches into curtains of scales.
Does each butterfly need to know it’s neighbor to support them? The tentative and vital connection between community members drove the creation of this piece.
