This is one of my most straightforward symbolic pieces. It came from a dark time when I was recovering from a period of depression and heartbreak. While recovering, I had the consistent vision of coming home to myself: of growth and life twisting to form a heart made whole, of the friends and family that I had distanced from supporting me, having never really left. Flowers and a bird of paradise, representing new passions and curiosity, emerged from the center. This piece is an unrestrained depiction of vivaciousness, resilience, and community support.
